Holidays and family traditions
For many, the holidays are full of traditions and a time when we all get together. A few years after we moved into our house, a new couple moved right next door. Shortly after, we became good friends and we were going over frequently. Close to Christmas time they told us “Hey, we have a family tradition and every year we go to a farm to cut our Christmas tree. Would you like to come?”. Until then, we were fluctuating between artificial trees or buying one from the local market. We decided to go. When we arrived to their parent’s house, we were greeted by more than 20 family members (and many more kids). We drove in a big line to a tree farm in the Allentown area and off we went up the hill to find our tree. At the time, it was just the two of us, but we had such a good time that we did it every year since. Our friends moved away, but we continued the tradition with our kids. They have so much fun running around trying to find THE tree (even though they go to EACH one “How about this one?” 🙂 ). When they finally “find” the one, they are so happy and they are giddy of anticipation since they get to cut it.
And this year we are starting a new tradition: a conceptual holiday portrait. This was our first time doing it and, once again, we had such a good time.
And some outtakes 🙂 ….
And here is the resulting holiday card. We already started to brainstorm for next year’s concept … stay tuned 🙂
