LET THEM EAT CAKE - 2011, LOEWS HOTEL

LET THEM EAT CAKE – 2011, LOEWS HOTEL

On April 11th, City of Hope held its annual [wedding] cake competition, “Let Them Eat Cake”. This was their 7th event (you can see some cakes from last years competition here). All gross proceeds from this event will go directly to City of Hope. For those not familiar, City of Hope is a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. So, if you are not going to taste the wonderful cakes, you can come to the next one to support a great cause (I personally go for both reasons 🙂 ).

Location – Loews Hotel, Philadelphia
Organizers – City of Hope, Mark Kingsdorf

“Let Them Eat Cake” is Philadelphia’s Wedding Cake Design competition (although you can have a beautiful cake for your birthday, Mitzvah or just because). Each year, the contestants outdo themselves.

This year’s theme was Historical Romances – Love in any age. Enjoy some beautiful cakes:

“People’s Choice” winner was this cool steam-punk cake by Bredenbeck’s …

Piece’a Cake won the title of “Best Theme” with their I Love Lucy inspired cake …

…. And the overall winner …. Truly Custom Cakery with their “Romeo and Juliette” cake …

I think the judges had a really hard time narrowing it down from so many beautiful cakes. Congratulations to the winners as well as all participants. You all did an awesome job.
