As you probably heard by now, this is the first time in over 300 years when the lunar eclipse happened on the winter solstice. Lunar eclipses are fairly common and you can see a calendar here. This time I was more excited because my son would get a chance to see one (and at this age kids are wowed by these things). His reaction: “Wow, this is my first eclipse of anything…”.
