Miss Philadelphia organization has a long history and it has advanced the causes of higher education and community services throughout the city. It’s legacy goes back 89 years. All the people involved with making this a great success are volunteers that come back year after year to help out. Many of the past Miss Philadelphias are coming back to help the new contestants. This was my first year of covering the pageant and I was very honored when I was asked to photograph it. I first met the girls at their workshop at Four Season hotel in Philadelphia. They spend the day going through interviews (all of the participants are required to have a platform and they are asked questions during the pageant), makeup, hair and many facets of being a pageant contestant. I had the chance of taking some headshots and their catwalk practice. I put together a short slideshow that I hope you will enjoy.
